Parade Chic: Crafting Stylish Ensembles Inspired by Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Balloons

As we reach the apex of the fall season, the excitement surrounding the impending: major calorie intake, victory of the annual family turkey bowl, and wine drunkenness in your childhood home, is exacerbated. For many, especially New Yorkers, the anticipation of Thanksgiving goes hand in hand with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and its massive balloons. And for MV, this is just an excuse to scroll through Macy’s shop to make a perfectly coordinated outfit to some of the most classic blow ups…

SNOOPY (and Woodstock)

Good grief! Snoopy, and his little yellow pal Woodstock, have made an appearance at every Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade dating back to 1968. To match the color palette of this paw-sitively dynamic duo, MV would begin with this Charter Club Cashmere Embellished Bow Sweater from Macy’s.

For the bottoms, MV suggests either this funky Mango Midi Striped Knit Skirt or a pair of Free People Moxie Low-Slung Pull-On Boyfriend Jeans.

To coordinate with Snoopy’s collar, MV would opt for a stand-out red necklace such as the EFFY Ruby 18" Tennis Necklace

And finally, for a touch of Woodstock and a splash of yellow, MV recommends either Macy’s chic Tom Fords or cutesy Saint Laurents.

PAPA SMURF

The quintessential Papa Smurf balloon at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is nothing short of smurfy! Blue is the “it” color of this fall season, and what better way to keep up with the trends than to match with the most infamous blue being?

MV would begin with this look with the red Ralph Lauren Felted Wool Beret Hat. This red cap sets Papa Smurf apart from all of the rest, and this beret will make you recognizable amongst all of the other NY fashion girlies.

If hats aren’t your thing, go for Macy’s adorable Miu Miu or striking Versace sunglasses.

Now for the top, go for something simple and something blue, Mango Round Neck Cashmere Sweater

Papa Smurf would have insisted that you keep warm, so layer with the NVLT Bold Faux Fur Jacket.

And for bottoms, MV recommends the Mango Midi Patchwork Denim Skirt to introduce varying shades of blue and create dimension in your look.

Lastly, a pair of bright red shoes will add the pop that Papa Smurf deserves. The Classic II UGG Mini Boots are perfect for a comfier style and the Sam Edelman Slingbacks are just right if you want a more high end look. If you are feeling chilly and are looking to make your ensemble funkier, add in Memoi’s Leg Warmers

THE GRINCH

Green with envy? More like green with style. Before he steals Christmas, MV has some ideas to steal his look. We hate to give him the credit, but The Grinch is definitely a star balloon in the parade every year. Instead of “HATE HATE DOUBLE HATE… LOATHE ENTIRELY!”, this ensemble idea will make you say “LOVE LOVE DOUBLE LOVE… ADORE ENTIRELY!”

The Grinch is synonymous with the color green, so coordination with him calls for a monochrome look. Start off with this Michael Kors Wool Blend Belted Coat.

Underneath, add this dark green Mango Leather Midi Skirt and a Mock-Neck Long-Sleeve Bodysuit for warmth.

Tie the outfit together with these Feather Sam Edelman Slingbacks

Enjoy your fashionable fit as you simultaneously enjoy Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and its phenomenally massive balloons!

Happy Thanksgiving,

MV
